Limits and fair use

Every Lemonade Host site runs under the same limits, listed below. Almost no real site gets near them - they exist so the service stays healthy at 99¢ a month for everyone on it.

Storage and bandwidth

1 GB of storage holds a genuinely large amount of static content - most portfolio and brochure sites use a small fraction of it, even with a full set of images. 250 GB of bandwidth a month covers the traffic for those same sites many times over; if a site is doing meaningful numbers, look at image sizes before worrying about the ceiling.

File size, file count, and deploys

25 MB per file comfortably covers a photo, a short video clip, or a font - anything bigger belongs on a service built for large media, linked in from your site rather than hosted on it. The file-count and daily deploy limits are generous: enough for a large gallery, a generated documentation set, or fixing a typo five times before lunch. The Acceptable Use Policy has the detail.

Fair use, in plain terms

Fair use applies on top of the 250 GB bandwidth allowance. In plain terms: the traffic should look like a normal site being visited by people, rather than being used to distribute files at volume - a video CDN, a file-sharing hub, or a hotlinked image host for other sites. Day-to-day traffic spikes from real visitors are fine.

What happens as you approach a limit

Nothing switches off silently, and there's no automatic overage charge. If a site is approaching a limit, we email the account holder before anything changes, so there's a chance to act - remove unused files, optimize images, or talk to us - before the site is affected. The numbers above describe the normal, expected ceiling, not a target to push against on purpose.
